E3 2010 - Little Big Planet 2

The reason why the E3 conference marks my favorite time of year is because of all the awesome reveals that come along with it, and because it shows us where the gaming industry is heading the rest of the year. Since its original release on the October 27th, 2008 Little Big Planet was and still continues to be what I call a game changer, and with the release of Little Big Planet 2, it looks like the guys of Media Molecule are not pulling any punches for the sequel.

As I watched the gameplay demo I got really excited thinking about all the possibilities that we now have when it comes to creating our own games, and showing them to the world. With the addition of choosing what genre of game you want sock boy to play in, ranging from racing games to RPG's, player will have a lot more at their creative disposal.

Hit the break for all the details on the Little big Planet sequel.

A few demos were shown on stage, the first being a dexterity game where players were given a sequence of buttons to press and whoever pressed the most buttons correctly by the time a timer runs out wins. The other games we got to see reminded me of the old Xbox game Fusion Frenzy, they had a bumper car game where the object of the game was to push your opponents off a cliff, and another where you obliterate your friends with a rocket launcher.

It goes without saying that this game has a lot of potential, and I look forward to seeing what those creative gamers out there can think of with all the new resources they have at their disposal. It's really refreshing to see a developer give us the tools to literally create our own game and say go for it. It is also a brilliant move because with if your players are creating content, you don't have to!
