Kevin Butler is the fictional Sony employee that is the spokesperson for the PS3's "It can do everything" marketing campaign. There's a good chance you've seen some of his work but if you think the PS3, Sony and/or Kevin Butler are figments of my imagination then check here to see him in action. Unfortunately for Sony and Butler the fake employee made a very real and funny mistake.
Hit the break to find out who, why, and how.
Twitter user "exiva" also known as Travis La Marr sent a tweet out at Butler saying, "46 DC EA D3 17 FE 45 D8 09 23 EB 97 E4 97 E4 95 64 10 D4 CD B2 C2 Come at me," and of course Butler being who he is re-tweeted back at exiva to his 70,000+ followers the PS3 METLDR root key which jailbreaks the PS3 and allows you to use Homebrew, thanks to Geohot. Of course the tweet was taken down eventually but the damage has been done and it will be interesting to see how Sony kills off his character.
