Droid Does... Explode in Your Ear
posted Sunday Dec 5, 2010 by Nicholas DiMeo
Only in Texas. Cedar Hill resident Aron Embry was using his new Motorola Droid 2 phone when suddenly he heard a pop and then, after pulling the phone from his ear, he noticed his ear was bleeding.
I heard a pop. I didn't feel any pain initially. I pulled the phone down. I felt something dripping. I realized that it probably was blood. I went into the house and as I got into the bathroom and once I got to the mirror and saw it, it was only then I kinda looked at my phone and noticed the screen had appeared to burst outward.
The man, 30, was rushed to the hospital to get stitches and luckily did not have any hearing loss.
This isn't the first time a user has had problems with a mobile device. We all know about Apple's hot pants situation.
Motorola has stated it is not aware of other issues like this and stands firm on saying this is an isolated incident. The company will be speaking with Embry and plans to fully investigate the matter. From what I understand, Bluetooth devices haven't exploded as of yet.
