Wizard World's Miami Comic Con 2011 Recap

The staff of PLuGHiTz Live! have had the opportunity to attend a lot of events around the country since we started this thing 4 years ago. Some are great, some are terrible, most are tolerable. It is very unusual for a first-time event to be a huge success, but if someone could pull it off, it's Wizard World, and they certainly did.
If you don't follow the convention world, you may never have heard of them, but you have probably heard of their events. From Big Apple Comic Con to Atlanta and Anaheim Comic Cons, this group certainly gets around. They have finally gotten around to Florida and we got Miami Comic Con. Taking place at the newly renovated Miami Airport Convention Center (MACC, formerly the DoubleTree Miami Mart Convention Center), where other Florida conventions have taken place, but never one of this calibur.
To find out who was there and what to expect from future Wizard World cons, hit the break.
Attendees of Miami Comic Con had the pleasure of a wide variety of special guests, media and artists and of course performances. Regular South Florida convention attendees will recognize the 3000 Brigade, cosplayers extrordinaire, who ended Saturday with a bang. Also in attendance was Adam West, the original TV Batman and mayor of Quahog, Rhode Island on TV's Family Guy.
Daniel Logan, known for playing young Boba Fett in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: The Clone Wars was there signing autographs and having a grand time interacting with attendees and challenging Red Link to dance competitions.
Denise Crosby, best known for playing Security Chief Tasha Yar on Star Trek: The Next Generation was there having a blast talking to her fans. We had the opportunity to talk to her for a good 15 minutes about her upcoming guest appearance on a Law and Order series, plus her experiences making and distributing the documentary Trekkies. Did you know she flew halfway around the world carrying cans of film reel all while pregnant? Well, now you do.
Kevin Nash of WWE and TNA fame was there being badass as always, alongside Ernie Hudson, Winston Zeddemore from the Ghostbusters films. Both were a tremendous amount of fun to talk to and really enjoyed being around people who appreciated their talents.
Of course, in addition to these people, there were many talented artists and performers, many more than can be listed here. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and look forward to interacting with Wizard World more in the future. Did you attend Miami Comic Con? If so, tell us about your experiences in the comments section.
