Xbox 360 Still on the Success Train

As we reported last month, media group NPD has changed the way they report on gaming hardware and software sales but that didn't stop Microsoft from boasting how awesome they did. This month turned out to be no different than the last, as Microsoft yet again rained down heavy droplets of success unto their competition and danced in the praise that NPD gave them, adding some of their own sentences of superiority in the process.

Want to see how well they did? Follow the break.

Microsoft, just after hitting 2.5 million Kinect units sold, also reached six consecutive months that the Xbox 360 lead video game sales for consoles (not counting portable), with 1.3 million units sold. This makes the console the only one to have a year-to-date growth above 10%, coming in at 42%, which leads the rest of the consoles as having the fastest-growing sales in 2010.

Out of all of those who bought anything for the 360, the PS3 and Wii, half of all spending in a retail store in November was done for the Xbox 360 platform.

Here's your top ten console game titles for November, 4 of them being Xbox games.

1. Call of Duty: Black Ops, 8,400,000*

2. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, 1,140,000*

3. Just Dance 2

4. Madden NFL 11

5. Fable III*

6. Donkey Kong Country Returns, 430,500

7. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, 417,000

8. Gran Turismo 5, 400,000*

9. NBA 2K11

10. Wii Fit Plus*

*Include all versions of this game, except those bundled with consoles

Funfact: The Kinect has outsold Move by a ratio of 5 to 1. Looks like Microsoft is going to roll into 2011 on a very high horse, with shiny stirrups.
