Spam Saves Lives

Spam is usually a pain in the butt, whether it come in your mailbox, your email or as a text message. On some very rare occasions it can be a blessing. And, in one very odd situation, spam saved hundreds of lives.
On New Year's Eve in Central Moscow there was a suicide bomber whose plans were foiled by a spam text message. A common way for these suicide bombings to go down involves 2 people - one with a bomb and one with a detonator. Recently, the detonators have been cell phones. The bomber will move until in a place where they will do maximum damage and the detonator will send them a text message. This didn't quite go as planned. Before she was able to get to Red Square, she received a text message wishing her a happy new year several hours before she was supposed to arrive.
Who would have ever guessed that one day spam would save so many lives.
