We're getting word from several top industry sources claiming that our beloved WinPho 7 operating system should be reaching the market on October 11th, using New York City as its launching stage. It appears that the OS will launch that day, with handsets coming out later in the month.
Until now, all we've known is that Asus, Dell, HTC, LG and Samsung were all on-board to help the cause, but we had little on what handsets were to have WinPho 7 on it, other than seeing some pictures of a Samsung and HTC devices in the wild.
Microsoft has gone on record this week to say, "We do not comment on rumor or speculation," but that was not before the company decided to celebrate Windows Phone 7 going to RTM (Released To Manufacturing), which means the system is ready to go onto handsets! They capped off the celebration by doing a "Thriller" dance in what appears to be one of their sidestreets. Camera crews were on the scene, and we have the video after the break. Another way to market WinPho 7 by going viral (and crazy)? Microsoft said they'd try anything to get the word out.
