Verizon has been beating us all over the heads with their FiOS service and how much better it is than the poor cable guys. Since they started installing the service a few years ago it certainly seemed like this was their new directive and everyone would eventually be privileged to use an all digital, fiber-based service. That dream, however, seems to be dead.
Verizon has been slowing installation over the past few months and stopped entering new markets as well. The Associated Press reports that Verizon has canceled plans to enter any new markets with the service, though it will continue to build-out the markets it has already announced service for.
So, if you live in Tennessee or Alabama and would like to have FiOS, you will have to move to Tampa or Massachusetts.
