So, even since the announcement of the PSP Go, and the subsequent announcement of the end of UMD, Sony has been very quiet about the actual fate of the games you already own on UMD if you want to upgrade to a Go. I am here with the answer for you, but you're not going to like it.
In a statement, Sony said,
We were evaluating a UMD conversion program, but due to legal and technical reasons we will not be offering the program at this time.
Of course, this doesn't really come as a big surprise. The lack of a transfer system is the reason we all assumed Sony hadn't really talked about it at all.
There is some good news, though. But only if you like in the UK. If you own an existing PSP and want to upgrade, Sony will give you 3 free downloads, so it will take a little bit of the sting away.
So, is this a deal breaker for you? Or are you still going to get a PSP Go? Or were you never planning on it? Let us know.
