Nintendo Optimistic About Wii Sales

Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo is fully aware that their E3 press conference was terrible. He also acknowledges that their hardware sales are down, and the economy is in the toilet. That being said, he is also fully convinced he has three titles in his new games catalog that will break 10 million units: Wii Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros. and Wii Fit Plus. Iwata says:

These three titles have already been available for hands-on demonstrations at E3 this year. They were highly evaluated by most of those who actually tried them. Distributors also gave feedback like 'The key player of this holiday season will be Nintendo as expected.

Taking into consideration the already crazy sales of Wii Sports Resort (Lisa bought it opening day and is absolutely loving it), the apparent love people have with the Super Mario Bros. remakes (just look at the DS version) and the fact that you still cant seem to find a Wii Fit out there today, combined with the huge number of Wii consoles out in the market right now, I think this is probably a very realistic goal.

What do you think? Will Iwata be right, or is this just a boast?
