Their Friends Call Them The Shack

We all know RadioShack. Most of us in the technology world have even worked there at some point in our careers. In the PLuGHiTz World, that is how most of us ended up working together here (in fact, all current hosts of PLuGHiTz Live! Radio once worked together at a RadioShack). The image of the company has stagnated over the past decade or so. Despite several branding attempts, RadioShack still conjures up images of batteries, cordless phones and resistors to most people.
As of August 6th, RadioShack will not really refer to itself by that name any longer. Instead, they will use the name that most people have affectionately called the stores for years: The Shack. As part of the branding change, The Shack has been holding a cross-country celebration, with giant 14-foot laptops in both San Francisco and New York. There has been music, comedy and general fun.
Do you think The Shack will help people realize RadioShack has more than timers and surge protectors, or is it a losing battle?
