PSP Go Launch Could Have "Confused" Customers

It all makes sense. At first we thought Jon couldn't get the PSP Go because of a long story involving the act of a disappearing console, illegitimate credits and spontaneously combusting receipts. But we have now learned that it could just be the fact that the launch of the PSP Go, along with the higher price, may have just caused Jon to join the ranks of the Metal Gear Solid Russian soldiers by having a question mark over his head. At least, that's what Sony Senior Vice President of Publisher Relations Rob Dyer told us. Go ahead, ask him!

"We wanted to find a way to give the consumers what they want, so if they didn't want to go to a retailer they could stay at home and download (games and content.) And we were hoping really to eliminate the piracy issue. Did the PSP Go confuse (consumers)? Yeah, I think the higher price point didn't help matters any either... So we're going back and re-communicating, and I'm sitting here looking at multiple decks on what we're going to do this year. You'll see a lot of things coming out from us to better educate and inform the consumer. All I can say is watch this space, because we'll have answers to those questions."

Okay, so maybe he didn't mention his flagship game title or the visible confusion marks, but he did explain a lot. And to us it makes sense, but it does leave plenty of questions. Does this mean new hardware or maybe a new, lower price? Dyer wouldn't say when and what, but the fact that Sony is recognizing problems with some of their marketing is a step in the right direction for them. Now all that's left is for them to confirm the price for their premium PSN subscription.
