E.G. Nadhan: Cloud Standards - Service-Oriented Cloud Computing Infrastructure

E.G.Nadhan, Lead Technologist, HP Enterprise Services, has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry delivering solutions in distributed environments. As the Lead Technologist for Global Strategic Capabilities within HP Enterprise Services (Applications), Nadhan leverages his experience to build and grow the standardized set of processes and tooling direction within Application Services.

World's first Cloud Computing Technical Standard: The Open Group has released the first technical standard for the cloud: Service-Oriented Cloud Computing Infrastructure (SOCCI). As a platinum member of The Open Group, HP played a leadership role in defining this standard. In this session, the co-chair who led this project within The Open Group will explain how the standard works and walk through the architectural building blocks that it offers. He will also explain how enterprises can use this standard to deploy new solutions and validate existing solutions in SOA and cloud environments.

In this interview, he introduces the following questions:

1. Why do standards take time to evolve? Waiting for Standards is like Waiting for Godot.

2. What is unique about SOCCI? Don't we have existing SOA and Cloud Computing standards that address this?

3. When can an Enterprise apply this standard?

4. What was HP's role in the definition of this standard?

Nadhan is the co-chair for the Service Oriented Cloud Computing Infrastructure project within The Open Group's Cloud Computing Work Group. He chairs the HP Open Group Strategy Steering Committee that enforces consistency in the level and nature of HP participation and contributions to The Open Group.

The video interview from the HP Discover 2012 event by the SDR News team is available after the break.
