Market Leaders have a clear strategy for use of IT to achieve business goals - and surprisingly, market leaders in the survey of over 650 companies identified seven key factors that were the same, regardless of industry. Laggards tend to have more IT than they need, and they tend to use it less efficiently. Laggards also tend to focus on security, but in a negative way as a boundary - keeping bad people out. Leaders build security into everything that they do, and look upon it as an enabler to bring in teams, customers and resources to take advantage of market opportunity.
