George Ferguson: Business Continuity - Protecting Data vs Protecting Businesses
posted Thursday Jun 28, 2012 by Contributor
George Ferguson is Product Marketing Manager for HP Continuity Services. In this interview, George discusses Disaster Recovery as a cloud based service. The goal of an effective program is protecting business processes and applications, not just protecting data. The most frequent disasters are component failure, human errors and longer term data center electrical failures.
Enterprises must know where the data is - within region or within country. This sort of approach rules out the public cloud offerings. George also mentions some risky short-cuts using the test and development that might be tempting, but could be very expensive in the long run.
High agility and very low recovery time and very low costs are major advantages of the Cloud Based system.
