Sony's press conference was a little bit mixed. While they showed off exclusive games, played catch-up with media partners and made it clear that they were still relevant at least for one more year, the company is putting a lot on their new Vita and the Assassin's Creed upcoming titles.
Yes, I said titles because not only are the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles getting some love with Assassin's Creed III but the Vita is also getting Assassin's Creed III: Liberation. This Vita-only title hits stores in October and should really add some value to the mobile game system.
Liberation takes place in 1765 and the attempted Louisiana Rebellion. From Sony,
During 1765, Aveline stands directly in the path of Spanish forces seeking to overrun and take Louisiana while the rest of the coastal colonies are occupied with the American Revolution. Aveline is a uniquely effective assassin, employing tactics from her mixed French and African lineage and using weapons like the machete, poison-dart blowpipe and dueling pistols.
You read that right. The character is named Aveline and is the first-ever female Assassin that you get to play as in the game. I think the setting, plus the addition of a female character, may give the Vita the push it deserves.
Here's where it gets better, though. The new Assassin's Creed title will come complete with a brand new white version of the Vita and a 4GB memory card to launch at the same time of the game. I now want a Vita because the white looks really cool. What do you think? Do you own a Vita? Are you excited for Liberation? Let us know in the comments.
