Description

Every year, we hear several stories of disasters caused by forgetting something in a car. We see babies die in their car seats. We see pets die waiting for their owners to return. And while there are legal penalties for this type of behavior, the problem persists. This could very well be because the cause is an oversight rather than malice. If the cause is truly because of forgetting a baby in a car, then Dont Forget might just be the solution.

What is Don't Forget?

Don't Forget is a simple concept - a mobile app to prevent you from forgetting things. The app came about specifically because of the regular stories surrounding kids and animals dying in hot cars. But, the system does not only apply to these specific issues. If you are prone to forget things in the car, including groceries, laptops, or even keys, then Don't Forget could be a benefit for you.

Here's how it works - your phone connects via Bluetooth to your car because most people use hands-free calling in their cars, plus listening to music and podcasts. So, the app uses this connection to know when your car has been turned off to deliver an alert. However, unlike most phone alerts, this one doesn't just send a push notification - it sends a verbal reminder. The app comes with a variety of reminders built in, and you can customize it based on your personal needs and preferences.

How does Don't Forget work?

Here's an example of Don't Forget in action. You've been to the grocery store following a full day at work and now you've returned home. The back of your car is currently filled with veggies, soups, sandwich meats, and cheese. But, you have a tendency to forget things in the car because you're just happy to be home. You start to get out of your car and your phone says to you, "Don't forget anything you have in your car." You remember that you've got groceries in the car and you bring them inside, saving the food and maintaining your sanity.

But, what about if your problem is actually forgetting to bring things with you into the car instead? Maybe you're a person who gets to the store and discovers that you've forgotten your wallet. Or, you get into the car and realize you left your car keys upstairs. Don't Forget is able to also give you verbal reminders to grab your wallet and keys before you head out of the house, eliminating the need to go back upstairs or the embarrassment of not having your wallet at a store or restaurant.

Summary

Don't Forget is currently available for both iOS and Android, with all of the current features enabled. The company has a lot of ideas on how to improve and enhance the product, but there is no timeline for bringing it to market.
