Shortly before announcing its acquisition by Google, Nest, known for their smart thermostat and mobile application for controlling the system remotely, announced the Nest Protect. The newest addition to the Nest family, the Protect is a carbon monoxide and smoke detector, but with traditional Nest capabilities.
Tied into the existing Nest applications, the Protect can inform you, near or far, if there is a problem. If it is a self-contained problem, like a burned pizza, you can disable the warning without having to get something to fan at the detector. You can even get a message when it is time to replace the battery.
