The quality of video recording might be getting better on smartphones, but the quality of the audio is not. It is unfortunate for small content producers who would like to use a Lumia 1020 and its amazing camera to film an interview, but can't trust that the audio will be usable.
Marshall Electronics, long known for pro audio and video products, is trying to fill in that gap. Announcing a line of iPhone accessories to allow professional gear to plug into the phone, you can now use the above average camera with truly professional sound.
Highlighted is the 4 channel, battery-powered pocket mixer which can connect via USB to a computer or into Apple's camera connector to record audio directly and digitally right onto the phone. The mixer will be available later this year for around $249.
