Left 4 Dead 2 Lite

Oh, Australia. What an interesting cultural paradigm you have created. A nation founded by British criminals who loves pot is afraid of blood and gore. Our most recent example is the classification board's refusal to accept Valve's upcoming sequel Left 4 Dead 2.

Valve ad EA worked with the board to create a version of the game that they believe will satisfy the board, but certainly not the players in Australia. According to the board's report,

No wound detail is shown and the implicitly dead bodies and blood splatter disappear as they touch the ground. The game no longer contains pictures of decapitation, dismemberment, wound detail or piles of bodies lying about the environment.

In addition to the altered game, EA also resubmitted the originally rejected game. According to a spokesperson,

We are waiting until we get the results back from the resubmitted full version, just in case it gets classified after working with the OFLC, we would much prefer to release that one.

They plan to release the kids' version next month when the rest of the world gets the real version. In the event that the board approves the real version, EA plans to release a patch in Australia to turn the kids' version into the full version.
